Celebrating MLK Day and Lunar New Year

change goals

Today, we observe Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

One of my favorite quotes of Dr. King is this one: "If you can't fly then run, if you can't run then walk, if you can't walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward."

This quote is such a beautiful reminder that no matter what you are attempting to do, keep moving forward. Even the smallest steps still create progress. Keep moving forward as you stand up for what is right. Keep moving forward as you advocate for positive change in your organization, your community, and your country. Keep moving forward when it comes to making the changes you want to make to support your well-being.

No matter what your ultimate goal, keep moving - even if you feel like you are crawling. Only with consistent forward progress does a goal become a reality.

But in the spirit of Dr. King, don't simply read and think about making a positive change - take action. As Dr. King said:

"The time is always right to do the right thing."

"Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, ‘What are you doing for others?'"

And on Sunday, January 22, millions of people across the world will celebrate Lunar New Year. Since one of our children is adopted from China, we celebrate Lunar New Year in our home as well.

As we will say to each other this coming weekend, "Gong xi fa cai" - wishing you happiness and prosperity in the coming year.
