Learn the Exact Strategies I'm Going to Use to Hit My 2023 Goals! Let's do this together!

How is your 2023 so far? I've been thinking of you and hoping that your new year is going great!

Did you set New Year's resolutions and goals? I did!

Yes, we can set new goals any time, but the new year is a particularly good time to set them. Something about the "out with the old, in with the new" moment of the calendar flipping. (It's true! Check this out, but remember you can have a "fresh start" any day, week, month, or moment.)

Here are a couple of my physical and social well-being goals for the new year. I try to set "identity-based habits" or "process goals" typically so that my habits make the outcome I want inevitable.

  • I am a person who moves my body at least 20 minutes a day. (Ultimately I want to do more, but small steps. Exercise has always been my Achilles heel.)

  • I'm a person who eats primarily lean protein, fruits, and vegetables (kind of a Mediterranean/paleo combo with a few splurges because, well, I'm human.)

  • I have a date night/lunch/breakfast/happy hour with my hubby at least once a week.

But habit change can be hard, which is what makes resolutions and goals tricky.

If you are fascinated by this topic like I am, here is my favorite expert (you've heard me reference him before): James Clear, a writer and speaker focused on habits, decision-making, and continuous improvement. He is the author of the #1 New York Times bestseller Atomic Habits (possibly the best $15 you'll spend this year).

If you are an audio person (me, too!), here are links to a two-part interview he did with Brene Brown (another one of my favorites!):

There are so many opportunities to make small changes that make big differences to our well-being and professional success, just through changing our actions and behaviors. You can accept and appreciate yourself as you are while still learning, growing, and developing!
